I tested the commands with Hardy-Live CD and

lpr -P <printer> <PDF file>

with the PDF generated by

ps2pdf13 /usr/share/system-config-printer/testpage-a4.ps

led to the same wrong positioning I experienced only in Intrepid before! Hope this result helps in finding the problem.

Concerning Serge van Ginderachter's comments I have to add, that Firefox does not print correct for me under Intrepid, though it does not cut the page at the top. Instead it prints the complete page but shrinks it to the upper 75% of the paper.
