Select Ubuntu and the screen becomes purple no login

i choose ubuntu in the operating system screen and then my screen becomes purple, but when i choose windows 7, windows goes up normal

Have you waited after the screen goes purple, ubuntu displays a purple screen while booting, so this is normal.

Have you installed Ubuntu using wubi.exe , or using a Live media (such as CD/DVD/USB) ?

i downloaded ubuntu from the site and used the exe file (wubi.exe)

Ok, and what model Dell is it? Try looking around the system for stickers.
