Startup "Xubuntu" splash/loading screen doesn't show in 12.10

Asked by Jon Samuels

Ever since I installed Xubuntu 12.10, the blue "Xubuntu" loading screen does not show up when I turn on the machine. It goes from the Dell startup directly to a black screen that lasts for a minute (the duration of when the loading screen would show) and the next thing that shows up is the session login screen. It does, however, show up when I shut down the computer. Not sure what would be causing this. This was from a fresh install of 12.10.

Try this from terminal

sudo dpkg-reconfigure plymouth

sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth (choose the default-auto)

sudo update-initramfs -u -k all

and reboot to see.

This problem is occurred (probably) due to graphics card driver.

Thanks

What video chip do you use?
Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you burn the CD as slowly as possible?

Can you help with this problem?
