How to change boot (splash) screen Ubuntu 10.10?

Asked by Ruben Morales

I'd like to know how to change the boot/splash screen on my Ubuntu 10.10. And also, is there an official source to download them?... I'd like to have the Mac OS boot screen.

Exactly... I've downloaded an app called Fuzion, but all I got is the same image on a lower resolution.

Log out image is showing properly (with the new one that I wanted), but boot screen doesn't display... my monitor shows me this message "Frequency out of range, choose another resolution".
My monitor supports 1024x768 and that's what I have set

that's what I'm doing... but I keep getting this two errors:

morales@ubuntu:~$ sudo update-grub2
Generating grub.cfg ...
cat: /boot/grub/video.lst: No existe el archivo o directorio //The file or folder doesn't exist
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-22-generic
Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-22-generic
Found Microsoft Windows XP Professional on /dev/sda1
done

morales@ubuntu:~$ sudo update-initramfs -u
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-22-generic
Warning: No support for locale: es_ES.utf8

What am I doing wrong?
I'm doing everything as that guide, except that I'm using my resolution

All I had to do was to change the resolution on /etc/default/grub
Thanks! "actionparsnip"
