plasma-widget-networkmanagement: vpnc connection (still not working) under 9.10

Asked by meral

To put it straight: This is embarassing.

A function, that "everybody" needs is - as in 8.10 and earlier - still not working: VPN (using vpnc).

Under 8.10 you could not even setup the vpnc connection because fields for variables like groupname, username, etc. were grey and not editable.

Now at least one can create a vpn profile but then I cannot use it. If I click it, nothing happens. If I right click, I have two options ("Copy IP Adress" and "Properties") but again, both grey and unselectable.

Best regards
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

The "plasma-widget-networkmanager" package is very old, thus it has been deprecated in Karmic in favour of the new "plasma-widget-networkmanagement" package, which contains a new up-to-date version of knetworkmanager and fixes a lot of bugs since Jaunty. Please try it, and if you still encounter problems, I suggest that you open a bug report against this package.

Regards,
Sylvain

Yes, this was a my fault, I did mean "plasma-widget-networkmanagement".
I can create a VPNC Connection but I can't establish it (click it).
So this question remains open but the title needs to be changed.

If you want, I can add debug output, but I don't know how to get output.

And btw, I have here only a button "This solved my problem" I refuse to click it but there is no other way to send this message, so I click it anyway, even if it does NOT solve my problem ;)

Maybe what you're seeing is bug #425466 : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-widget-networkmanagement/+bug/425466 ? If this is the case, I encourage you to post a comment and set this bug to 'Confirmed' so that the Kubuntu team can be notified about it and take it into account.

Hope this helps,
Sylvain
