i see no videos made listing. should I see something like that? have an 8 gig card in place too but nothing appears to happen after maybe 45 minutes. a green light is on. at first the charge light was on but not now.

Pitivi does not currently handle importing directly from camcorders. From what I can tell yours is a DVD camcorder, so ask the camcorder to finalize the DVD, put the disc in the computer and copy the files to the computer.

Thanks Jean-Francois. Glad to know about going in that direction. However, since there's no DVD involved yet, I do not understand. In the alternative, using shotwell I was able to remove the 8 gig add on card and then move the Sony product to my PC; then, yes I can burn a DVD. That being so, there was/is no pitivi malfunction. by removing the empty 8 gig add on chip and using shotwell the question has an answer.

reading "ask the camcorder to finalize the DVD", I do follow. maybe if I hear someone say the same thing verbally maybe my brain would heard your message. in this case I am not a read and apply your instruction.

Oh, I thought your camcorder was a DVD camcorder, not a "memory card" camcorder. Anyway, good to hear that your problem is solved now.
