How edited file can be saved so it can be read by other players

Asked by Richard Mackrory

I have edited a 3GB MP4 file using PiTiVi and rendered it. I need to get the smaller (I expect) file in MP4 or other format that can be read by a media play or condensed by Avidemux and saved in a suitable format.

All I have as a file is a 2.6kB PiTiVi Project File. All I get offered as alternatives is Playlist Format or Detect Automatically.

What can I do to get a file containing only the bit I need?

Hi, you need to "render" your project. Take a look at the pitivi user manual for the distinction between rendering and saving. Hope this helps.
