If you're only looking for removing the beginning and end, have you tried dragging the "handles" on the left and right edges of your clip?

That seems to work good for the front. What I also figured out was that you could park the play head at the point where you want to split the program and that the "split" tool (bottom left) would break the program into clips. I could then delete the unwanted section. This worked better for the tail of the program since there was a very parge section of unwanted material at the end. Thank you!!
