Can not get PiTiVi to recognize my Panasonic DV-GS9 camcorder or grab video.

Asked by Jack Farrell

I can not get PiTiVi to recognize my Panasonic DV-GS9 camcorder or grab video. Panasonic says this camcorder had no software, and I find no drivers for it. They recommend using Windows Live Movie Maker, but that does not work either, and I prefer not using Windows anyway. I need a way to transfer video from MiniDV tape to my computer. The camcorder is supposed to do that, and does replay, but is not recognized when connected by FireWire [IEEE1394]

Pitivi doesn't yet support capturing directly from a camcorder. You could use Kino (or the commandline tool "dvgrab") to do so.
