'an error ocurred while importing' message when importing video files from a Droid phone.Files were able to import into Avidemux

Asked by designsbyteri@comcast.net

i just downloaded video files from my Android phone into my computer. when i attempted to import them into PiTiVi, an error message appeared. i successfully imported the file into another video program (Avidemux) so i know the file is ok. what can i do to get it into your program as it seems much easier to maneuver.

In cases like this, please file a bug report, not a question.
Please specify the pitivi version and if possible provide a sample of the file you're trying to import.

the version is v0.13.4 . this is my first time using any of this, so i don't know about a bug report or what that is for. my understanding is that this program is compatible with nearly every type of video including the MPEG-4 that is generated by an Android phone, but the message associated with the 'error message' is [ the following file can not be used with PiViTi ] and then lists the file as +VID_20100906_153453.3gpfile this a sample of the files i'm trying load :///home/teri/Videos/VID_20100826_112355.3gp
i'm not sure how to send you the video.
thanks for any help you can give me,
teri

In the future, you can file bugs in Ubuntu's package for pitivi by simply using the "Help > Report a bug" menu item in pitivi. You could then attach a small sample of your 3gp files directly onto the bug report.

However, you are using pitivi 0.13.4 and that is an old/unsupported version, so I'd like you to try out pitivi 0.13.5 first, because it addressed issues such as codec discovery. You can get it with Ubuntu 10.10, or by using the GStreamer PPA repository for Ubuntu 10.04: https://launchpad.net/~gstreamer-developers/+archive/ppa

If the problem persists with that version, then do file a bug report :)

Can you help with this problem?
