How to Edit M2TS files using PiTiVi

I just installed UBUNTU 64 bit on my quad core PC. I tried to edit one of my M2TS files but strangely it complained about the lack of gstreamer plugins. So I run

sudo apt-get install gstreamer-plugins-*

and installed all gstreamer plugins. However, after this, I am still unable to edit my M2TS files because it still complains about the lack of plugins. This time the message is:

GstDecodeBin2:dbin:
no suitable plugins found

I don't know what to make of this. Can you pls. help me with this problem ?
