new to ubuntu & Pidgin

My Dad's just bought me a netbook running Ubuntu and I can't get my MSN messenger to work. Also, I think I should be able to access my MSN email account through the Evolution Mail App, but it asks me loads of questions I don't know the answers to. I'm 12 and my Dad can help me but we need to answers in simple to use language!!!!!! Can anyone help me please
