can't use pidgin

pidgin can't log me on to yahoo massenger, it keeps giving me error massage (error 1013)

Try removing the @yahoo.com bit from your login credntials. found here about halfway down the page http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/9467

hello This means that Yahoo discontinued the protocol 16 (Source: Pidgin change log)

Even with the new version of Pidgin 2.5.7 still has the same problem.

To solve it you will have to import the Key of launchpad for Pidgin Developers

sudo apt-key adv - recv-keys - keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 67265eb522bdd6b1c69e66ed7fb8bee0a1f196a8

Add the following line of souce.list / etc / apt / sources.list:

http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main deb

Now run the update and install Pidgin:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pidgin

With this simply restart your Pidgin and ready you can connect to your Yahoo

ubuntujenkins your responds was just the solution to the problem, i really appreciate your help and to WRdHat thanx alot for concern. but still have difficulty joining the chat room,any help?
