I blocked someone who was harassing me and she is still able to send me messages

Asked by Lara Kallich

Two or three months ago a former friend began sending me harassing instant messages, so I blocked her screenname. Today, without ever having removed her screenname from my block list, I received more instant messages from her, and this time the content of those messages was exponentially more hurtful and inappropriate. Thinking that perhaps something had gone amiss when I'd blocked her initially, I unblocked and then reblocked her screenname; moments later I received still more messages. I am not sure why this problem is happening but I need it to be resolved ASAP.

Maybe you should change the instant messenger.

What do you mean by that- I should change the account in question?

I think blocking will not prevent her to message you. Once you block someone you are always shown offline to her.. I guess so..
If you don't want to receive any message from her then why don't you remove her from your friend's list..??

I was under the impression that removing her from my contact list would not prevent someone from sending me messages whereas blocking them would. Evidently I was wrong about that...? I have since deleted her as well.

Blocking them should prevent messages, while simply removing them from your contact list will not; you are correct.
