Editing default status messages

Asked by Michael Silbert

When my status is "available", the associated text message is "I'm not here right now". What I want to do is to remove --- or modify --- this text message. I've found what appeared to be the right files under ~/.purple in accounts.xml and status.xml but modifying these two files does not appear to change the status message.

Whatever help or direction could be provided would be much appreciated.

Hi Michael Silbert,

Your problem is like mine. To solve this problem, when you choose "available" status, I'm sure the text message "I'm not here right now" is being highlighted. So, you can remove it by press backspace button, then press enter button. I'm sure, now your status is available now. Try that trick... it works for me.

Keep trying...
