I cannot play any streaming video or audio in Firefox. I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 and have been for a least 3 months

Binary package hint: pidgin

I believe an upgrade of a plugin has not allowed me to play streaming video and audio from several of my favorite sites. I have been using Ubuntu 9.04 for about 3 months without any problems until recently. I have used Synaptic to install several plugin related packages that I thought would correct the problem. On one of the sites when attempting to play a video, I recieve a flashing message in the upper left hand corner that says "FLV". I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling adobe flash player 10 as well as unistalling other plugins in firefox and Ubuntu. Does anyone have or had this problem and if so what other suggestions could you give me to correct this problem.

what plugins have you installed? FLV is flash video so I imagine you have installed gnash / swfplayer or some other flash plugin

Can you help with this problem?
