Hi,

Did you follow this procedure from John Bailey - including the purge - as I recommended earlier on?

To remove libpurple, do:
sudo apt-get remove --purge libpurple0

This will likely remove pidgin as well, so to get them back do:
sudo apt-get install libpurple0 pidgin

Regards,

Mark
