How do you disable the popups at the right upper corner?

Theres popups on the right upper corner of my screen whenever someone sends me a message or someone signs in. I want to disable this because it is very annoying!

You can edit when you receive these notifications by going doing the following:

1) Open Pidgin
2) Goto Tools->Plugin
3) In the list of plugins find Libnotify Popups
4) Select Libnotify Popups and hit the "configure plugin" button
5) Uncheck any notifications you do not want.
6) Close the open dialog boxes.
