how to open myown pidgin account

how do i open my own account with pidgin? everytime i open it it is my daughter's acct.that shows up

Do you share the ubuntu account with your daughter? Or do you have your own? It seems to me, that you are sharing the account - it would be much easier, if you created an own account for yourself. But nonetheless:
When you go to the pidgin main window and go to Accounts->Manage Accounts. There you can activate and deactivate the accounts used.
