How do I buzz a friend?

Asked by Ben Looman

I am trying to emulate Yahoo Messenger where you can buzz a friend to let them know you sent a message. How do I configure Pidgin to be able to do the same??
Thank You

pidgin lets you use many different IM services from AOL to Googletalk, but its mostly for just messaging. some of the more advanced features that vary from client to client like sending an audio clip in MSN or buzzing in yahoo are not available. you could try getting the latest version of pidgin or seeing if a different linux client for yahoo has that feature that your looking for.

Pidgin does support buzzing: just typ /buzz in the conversation (use /help to see all availlable commands

how do I initiate file transfers? When ever I try, the file transfer screen pops up I select my file and click open; then after a while is states: File transfer to (whom ever) failed: (whom ever) canceled the transfer of (file). Now the person on the other end states that they clicked to accept the file but it would not come. What am I or we doing wrong?
