Ubuntu 9.04 Pidgin status change not working properly

Asked by BrattJon

I have just updated to Ubuntu 9.04 and now the Pidgin status can't be changed from the "Switch Users or Shutdown" menu, it worked from Ubuntu 8.10
I can change my status from within the Pidgin drop down menu, but not the Ubuntu menu, the status displays correctly if I change it in Pidgin.
version of pidgin is 2.5.3
I'm new to Ubuntu and updating to 9.04 prob wasn't a good idea since I had 8.10 running fine, but any help would be appreciated.

Ubuntu 9.04 is still alpha software and is not stable. the latest version of pidgin is 2.5.4 you can try upgrading to that to see if it helps.

Thanks for the reply, I had already looked at ugrading Pidgin to 2.5.4 but wasn't sure which link to take from that site, there's no option that says linux or ubuntu download, so do I need to download source version, if so how do I install from that ?
