what u mean in the ubuntu recovery mode?
i am ask about friends status message in pidgin
that i can't see there message that appear after there nickname

I hate to be negative, but the advice in the first response is unnecessary. You will not need to jump into an unsafe single user recovery mode to fix this and most user-land software related issues.

hisham, Pidgin as far I am aware does not support setting a friend status. You can however see them. As for avatars I am not sure.

The program "amsn" supports both these things perfectly, and with plugins such as "music" (downloadable from their project site) you can build a nice Live Messenger like interface. Assuming that is what you are looking for.

To install amsn, open a terminal and enter the following:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install amsn

You will then find amsn under "internet" in the menu.

ok i know the amsn it is create one
but it not supports the arabic language
and i Preferred pidgin and i was wonder if there a plugin to display my friend status message on my screen .
any way thanks for you Steve

yes, with the amsn you can make all you want to be whit msn. you can download it in softonic
