What's the exact problem?

At least for me, the URL can't be resolved:

telnet messenger.hotmail.co.uk
telnet: could not resolve messenger.hotmail.co.uk/telnet: Name or service not known

When I try to log into Pidgin, I get a message saying "Connection error from Notification server: Writing error". Someone had suggested running the "telnet messenger.hotmail.co.uk 1863" in a terminal as a response to a similar problem. I tried the suggestion and got the result I posted. Sorry for not making this clearer before. Hope you can help, it's really beginning to get annoying. Cheers, Matt.

iuswsecurc1202-ge-1-0.msft.net:1863
baym-cs13.msgr.hotmail.com:1863
baym-cs16.msgr.hotmail.com:1863

Sorted, thanks a million. For some reason, even though I'm @hotmail.co.uk, Pidgin requires the "messenger.hotmail.com 1863. Cheers weboide
