Using Ubuntu install cd, when you see the desktop, try to press ALT+F2 and into opened window type:

gksudo nautilus

if you are asked for a password, press simply enter, and try to use nautilus with root privileges to remove your files.

Tip: Ubuntu installed on a pc in dual boot mode Ubuntu+Windows (not installed with Wubi) is a good rescue, antivirus, system for Window$...

Wubi Ubuntu installation
Wubi http://wubi-installer.org/, is a Ubuntu installer for Windows. ( Windows UBuntu Installer ) WUBI
Wubi installer is a good method, but not the best, to install and try Ubuntu for Windows user, using an easy way.
Wubi installer don't make a real ext3 filesystem partition, separated isolated from Windows, it create a big file into the windows filesystem and install Ubuntu in it, so if you have problems into Windows partition (viruses, filesystem corruption) you can damage and loose all the installed Ubuntu.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ubuntu installation
Boot the pc and install Ubuntu from Ubuntu live install cd, is the usual and best way to install Ubuntu in dual boot mode. (Ubuntu is installed not using Windows)
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/I386
install Ubuntu 8.04.1 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps

i tried to install it in a separate partititon but the program that makes the partitions automatically failed to make its job and instead of automatic it presented me a manual option to make the partitioning, which i rejected because of danger of eliminating windows by mistake...

is there a solution or option about the failure of the automatic partioning software in ubuntu instalation?

Please make sure you Windows partition have no errors on it.

Booting in Windows force an a complete hard disk check.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265
Then reboot again in Windows and make a clean shutdown.
Be sure to boot in Windows twice and to get a clear Windows shutdown.

Then retry to install Ubuntu booting your pc from Ubuntu live install cd.

Hope this helps
