How can I get notified when my contacts logs in/out to/from pidgin?

Asked by SanJ RockZ

I want to know how to configure pidgin so that when a buddy logs in or logs out, I will be notified with a label showing buddies name. This is exactly the same notifications you get in Google, Yahoo or MSN, I'm looking for. I get a sound when a user logs in or logs out but to see who logged in or logged out, I have to always open pidgin and see. Is there a way pidgin shows user notifications in labels??? Is there any plugin I can use to achieve that?? Your comments are highly appreciated.
Thank You

"Applications" >> "Accessories" >> "Terminal"
Type in "sudo apt-get install pidgin-libnotify"
After it is installed restart Pidgin.
Then, in Pidgin, "Tools" >> "Plugins".
Scroll down to "Libnotify Popups".
Enable.
And configure plugin.

"apt-get install pidgin-libnotify" then check plugins where you can configure notifications - it's the libnotify-popup plugin.

Thank you very much for helping me Thomas Roten and Andy Ruddock. I installed pidgin-libnotify and configure it correctly. Now the pop-ups are appearing as I wanted. Thank you once again for helping me.

You, or someone seeing this in the future, may be interested in the Guifications plugin.
