Change status of my MSN account to online in Pidgin

Asked by SanJ RockZ

I'm a newbie to Linux. My IM status for MSN is set to invisible in Pidgin. Now when I try to send a message, Pidgin replies me saying "You can't send messages as your status is set to invisible". I tried to change it to available but I didn't find a place where I can change the status of my MSN account. Can someone guide me on how to change the status of my MSN account using Pidgin?? (My pidgin status is set to Available and I can use it with my yahoo and gtalk accounts without any trouble) Your help is highly appreciated.

Thankx

To establish this in a more understandable manner:

Pidgin is set to available at the bottom of the contacts list?

Yahoo and Gtalk are working an online but msn is not?

In Tools >> Preferences. On the last tab 'Status/Idle', what is the status at start up set to? (This is at the very bottom)

First of all, Thankx for your quick response. Here goes what you need, the additional info.

Yes, Pidgin is set to available. Yes, yahoo and Google are working online but MSN is not. The status at the start up in Status/Idle tab is set to "Use status from last exit at start up and the pidgin status is disabled there.

On the accounts menu click manage. What do you see.

Is the check box by the msn account ticked?

I would suggest removing the MSN account, restarting Pidgin and adding it again from scratch. See what this does for you.

If you change your status (using the status box at the bottom of the buddy list window) to Offline, wait a few seconds, then change it back to Available (using the Available entry at the very top of the menu), does that solve your problem?
