couldn't connect to yahoo address?

I have been trying to connect pidgin to my yahoo messenger account, but it's showing this error message: "Could not establish a connection with the server"

did you enter password and username correctly,is this a socket error,is you internet working ...have you connected to website with firefox etc?. give me reply then i will again respond.

To configure yahoo client in pidgin:

Start pidgin (applications -> Internet -> Pidgin instant messenger)

Click on accounts -> Add/edit

In the basic tab in the drop down box next to protocols select yahoo

In the screen name field enter your yahoo ID (ex john if email id is <email address hidden>)

In the password field enter your account password

In the Local alias field enter your nick name, check remember your password option

and check new mail notification option if you want new mail notification

and click on save then again Click on accounts -> Add/edit

and check the enabled option to connect to your account automatically when pidgin starts

and when your buddies are online you can chat..
