How to connect to my yahoo messenger using pidgin

Hi, am a new user of ubuntu, i have been trying to connect pidgin to my yahoo messenger account, but it's showing this error message: "Could not establish a connection with the server:
Error resolving scs.msg.yahoo.com:
Name or service not known" pls is there any settings that should be inputed? pls i need a help...

I suppose your problem isn't pidgin but your nameserver. The error message states that the hostname of the login server could not be resolved to an IP address. I just checked my settings, but they are identical, meaning that it should work. If you're located in Japan, you probably have to enable the Japanese servers in the Advanced tab of the preferences of that account, but normally it should work with that server. Maybe there really is a problem with your DNS...

Hi... somehow, I have a similar problem. I chose the settings for yahoo. But when I try to connect, i receive the message that my username is invalid. I tried different settings but it doesnt work. Believe me: I really do have a yahoo-account. Pidgin works properly with my hotmail account. What is my mistake with yahoo?

In case someone hasn't found the workaround fix yet, you have to use the IP 66.163.181.173 instead of the domain name.

Hi I am having problem in pidgin opening yahoo massenger. It cant connect. only 1 time get connect in yahoo by using pidgin but now it's not possible.
