Pidgin doen not recognize my usb connection

Asked by Usman Khwaja

I have a usb modem and I connect to internet using 'wvdial' through terminal. pidgin does not connect to it. it stays
on "waiting for network connection" mode.

everything else is working fine through the same connection.

I tried changing proxy settings. as there are no other network connection settings on pidgin. I expected it to recognize my terminal internet connection when i switched the proxy type to "Use Environmental Settings"

But it does connect instantly when I connect to internet through network.

Hi !

The applications rely upon NetworkManager to teel them if there is a connection or not. Since you are not using NetworkManager to connect, it fails.

just close the NM applet. it should work.

Hope that helps
