am i screwed?

Try:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pj-assis/ppa; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get -y upgrade

May help (reboot to test). If not, run:

sudo modprobe-r uvcvideo; sudo modprobe uvcvideo quirks

May help

paul howard (neurot1) said : #11

did the first, rebooted, still not showing up in chat, tried second, said sudo: modprobe-r: command not found

paul howard (neurot1) said : #12

im assuming i have to open the chat, as well as cheese, so the cam turns on?

Sorry, my bad:

sudo modprobe -r uvcvideo; sudo modprobe uvcvideo quirks
