Questions on Pidgin - enable popup toast, large avatars

Asked by Xurc

Hi,

Just updated to Pidgin on my Ubuntu Feisty system. I have to current issues with it:

1) I tried installing the addon to enable popup toasts, but it doesn't seem to work. I find it a bit useless just to hear a melody when someone logs on, without seeing who it is. Anyone know how to enable the toasts?

2) Is it possible to get a decent sized buddy avatar in-chat? I like to see the standard MSN-sized avatar when I chat. I think this applies to all visual people. :)

Some improvements, such as pop-up support, are available in the new pidgin version (2.2.0), which is not yet available in the standard Feisty repositories.
This is especially true with the library used for the pop-up, if I'm right

Wait for Gusty or try installing a newer version (not recommended if newby)
