Click on Applications > Accessories > Terminal. In the terminal copy and paste the following lines:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pidgin-
(then enter your password, proceed to copy and paste subsequent lines)
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Even the pidgin website suggests using a similar method to enable using the latest version. http://
It didnt work. I want to be able to use yahoo messenger but it seems its not working

Found that the website's recommendations basically worked for me, following instructions there at http://

Miriam, can you be a bit more specific about what exactly did not work? Did typing the aforementioned commands in the terminal not work, or did trying to and your yahoo account info into Pidgin not work?
Can you help with this problem?
Provide an answer of your own, or ask Miriam Dalitso Nkhungulu for more information if necessary.
