Why hasn't this been updated with version 1.7?

Version 1.7 of pidgin-sipe is already out on the project page, why has this plugin not been updated in such a long time in the official repositories?

Ubuntu gets its pidgin-sipe package from Debian, and Debian is stuck at version 1.3.3. The package is community-supported, and in June a community member (Timothy Redaelli) was so kind as to package version 1.5.0 for Ubuntu. So basically either the Debian maintainer of pidgin-sipe updates the package, or some kind folks will (some day) do it in Ubuntu.
