phpmyadmin fails to work in 12.04 lts or 11.10

I have installed mysql and phpmyadmin using Synaptic. In 11.10 (Gnome) I click on the phpmyadmin icon and it goes to localhost on Google, asks for a password and then states unable to find /usr/Uzn98hLi.phtml-1.part and halts.

My puprose is to ultimately load Wordpress

I have had no luck in 4 hours of getting past this and other failure messages.

Can anyone explain a SIMPLE way round this without becoming technical - I am new to all of Ubuntu
