How does one execute an installed package?

I have installed packages using both Ubuntu software center and Synaptic. For example I have installed phpmyadmin using USC but can't figure out how to run it. It is on the list of installed software but doesn't appear on a menu anywhere.

How does one run an installed package or et it to appear on the menu?

More information: I am trying to set up a WEB site on my laptop for demonstration purposes. I have installed Apache2, php and mysql. All are working. I want to install Wordpress on the laptop to develop the WEB site but get things working.
