Right-click 'Open with > PDF-Shuffler' in PCManFM does not work anymore in Bionic Beaver

Asked by Mélodie

Hello,

I got the same issue as seen here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/652019/how-do-i-get-pdf-shuffler-onto-the-open-with-menu

in Ubuntu Bionic with the environment Openbox using PCManFM GTK version (and libfm gtk4). What is really the faulty program of file here?

In another machine where I run Xenial with the same exact environment I don't meet with the bug : I can do a right-click on a pdf file, then "Open With > PDF-Shuffler" and pdfshuffler starts and opens the file right away (or the files if I select several).

I would like to fix it for myself + find a bug report where I could join in and bring a feedback or create one if necessary, just I'm unsure against which package I should report the bug?

Thanks for helping

Does the solution suggested on the page make it work OK?

Hello actionparsnip,

just the opposite. In Ubuntu Bionic, my /usr/share/applications/pdfshuffler.desktop file contains

Exec=pdfshuffler %U

When I comment out the line and replace it with " Exec=pdfshuffler" without argument (neither %U, %f or %F) it works, I am able to open a file or several files with a right click.

So I just opened the file, removed the %U and saved it to ~/.local/share/applications. Now I try with %f, and with %F : indeed, the last one is better, allowing to gather several pdf files in the same one window.

Thanks for your pointer.

I hope the file can be modified in the package, and be updated (to allow simple users to have it working right, else they won't know how to fix it).
