Newer release for Precise?

Hey,

the current version for Precise is reeealy old. Any chance that this is going to be updated - preferrably to the pdf2djvu 0.9 (or higher)?

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant then it will be updated sooner rather than later.

If a package is without issue then the package will not be updated. Package age is fairly moot in Ubuntu and "old" packages are common in LTS releases.
