Shell script icon - how to execute with pcmanfm?

Asked by jerrylamos

Select a shell script icon with pcmanfm on Lubuntu, the icon is recognized as a shell script but won't execute. With pcman on Debian after a icon is highlighted a right click or enter will start the shell script in a new terminal session. Pcmanfm doesn't do anything. It's enough bother I'm thinking of installing Nautilus (slow) on Lubuntu.

Appreciate any help. I've looked in various documentation and bug lists with no results.

You need to run:

chmod +x script

so that the file becomes executable, otherwise it will simply be seen as a text file.

Can you help with this problem?
