pan .133 locks up while trying to connect to news server

After the recent updates to evolution, when pan is invoked and a group is selected pan hangs on trying to connect to the selected Server. I have Agent 6.0 installed in wine and also in XP pro and there are no problems connecting and updating with agent.
Same server (news60.forteinc.com) same user and password in all.

Oh yeah, am running lucid amd64 and other than the fglrx problems right after original release, have had no problems with lucid at all.

Sorry, I found out that AT&T has started blocking port 443 which I use with my newsreader. changed back to 119 and all works fine.
