Reason for removal from Oneiric ?

Asked by Will Rouesnel

I was wondering if the specific reason for the removal of this package from Oneiric (as a built package) could be elucidated? The link in the issue for the Debian bug does not lead anywhere.

I've been using this for a number of years on my home server, and have yet to find a simpler or more suitable replacement for using a few different passwords for different services and it appears to build and run just fine against Oneiric (did it a few minutes ago to restore my personal IMAP functionality).

The reason was documented by an autom. mail:
... change the status of pam-dotfile back from ITA (Intent to Adopt) to O (Orphaned), because this bug hasn't seen any activity during the last 12 months.

Changelog mentions dovecot, maybe it has some suitable packages there.
