openvdb6.2 is non functionnal on Focal due to jemalloc

Asked by Guillaume Doisy

See here : https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openvdb/issues/732
It seems the issue is due to jemalloc.
Using openvdb7.0 the problem dispears, probably thanks to the following:

* d/control: Remove dependency to jemalloc. See #951704 for details

Would it be possible to remove the dependency to jemalloc on the focal version (6.2) or release 7.0 to focal ?

I suggest that you create a bug report, requesting a SRU or backport of the groovy version to focal.
See FAQ #3037 for details of the processes

I will ask for a backport, but under which project should I put it ? There is no Focal/Groovy backports project here: https://launchpad.net/ubp

If you run:

ubuntu-bug openvdb

This will start the process for you.

I guess best way to go is remove dependency to jemalloc. so backporting this fix to focal:
https://salsa.debian.org/multimedia-team/openvdb/-/commit/ac393d95aa19d29c23a97dca1ace23061ebe5c17

please perform as much as possible of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

Backporting 7.0 release to focal is not option.

"The Backports Project is a means to provide new features to users. Because of the inherent stability risks in backporting packages, users do not get backported packages without some explicit action on their part. This generally makes backports an inappropriate avenue for fixing bugs. If a package in an Ubuntu release has a bug, it should be fixed either through the Security Update or the Stable Release Update process, as appropriate."

Bug also affects to reverse depends:
