Updated version of OpenTTD

Asked by Hendrik Schrieber

Will the current version 1.1.2 of OpenTTD get uploaded into Ubuntu Oneiric, which would fix a lot of bugs? When is this version to be expected to become part of Ubuntu?

1.1.2 only got uploaded into debian a few weeks ago;
http://packages.qa.debian.org/o/openttd.html

The freeze for the the debian import into oneric for ubuntu was at the end of June
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OneiricReleaseSchedule

So oneric will not get openttd 1.1.2 as a base package.

There are a few PPAs that supply openttd, but again these are also out of date.

What you could do is rebuild the debian package manually, by downloading it from the debian QA site (first link above), then following these steps here (skip the apt-get source step.). This is a bit advanced though.
