Currently using Ubuntu version 20.04.3 LTS with OpenSSH version "OpenSSH_8.2p1 Ubuntu-4ubuntu0.3, OpenSSL 1.1.1f 31 Mar 2020"

Additionally you have to be aware that Ubuntu is copying packages from Debian, and also Debian has only versions up to 8.4, see https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/openssh

There is already a bug report in Debian dealing with an upgrade https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=996391
If Debian is able to upgrade their package early enough, then Ubuntu will take over that package into Ubuntu 22.04.
