libopenscap8 not up-to-date

Asked by Zafer Balkan

I wonder what is required to get the libopenscap8 package updated. Current version is 1.3.6 while the latest in the repository is 1.2.16. That version has a memory leak and does not even finish running and gets a SIGKILL due to host getting out of memory.

What can we do to get the latest package into the repository?

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner rather than later.

Already written by actionparsnip: If the program crashes or fails, then please create a bug report.

Which Ubuntu release are you running? The version of software may differ between the Ubuntu releases!

Remark: Debian now has version 1.3.6 in testing and unstable, https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/openscap so it can be assumed that Ubuntu 23.04 will provide a similar version.

Can you help with this problem?
