openoffice -save over network

Asked by fabro

I have installed edubuntu and using openoffice worksgreat.
The only thing that I really need to solve is howis itpossibleto save a document on a samba server installed on an other computer.
When you click "save as" you only have access on your computer files but not on the entire local network.
How can I change the default save folder to one on an other computer?
Thanks

I assume, the other computer also runs [ed|k]ubuntu, or some kind of linux. In this case you coul resolve your problem by exporting the wished folder per nfs and importing it into your local filesystem, perhaps as a subfolder of your $HOME. afterwards pay attention to deacivate file locking over nfs in the soffice skript (i do not know where this is on ubuntu systems); i had a lot of problems with this, as it still was active. at the end you can define the imported folder as your default. I hope, this helpes.

Thanks a lot for shairng this information, hope is on the way.
What do you mean by exporting the folder by nfs?
What command/action needs to be taken?
I tried to move/copy the folder relating to "home" but then it copies it
