=TODAY()

To find this I did the following:-

Open OpenOffice.org SpreadSheet, Click Insert (menu) --> Function List. Then in the function list window that appears I chose "Date&Time", then found TODAY.

Thanks for the comments. I have not yet had a chance to test any of your solutions out, but i will in the next few hours.

The other thing i am trying to accomplish is setting a cell to auto-increment a numbher, such as an invoice number. Does anyone know where I can get a templete for invoicing ? can i use an excel sheet from M$'s site?

OpenOffice can read MS Office files, but the compatibility is not 100%. I have had some problems myself, but nothing that couldn't be fixed.

I don't know about an auto increment function, but if there is one in Excel chances are that it is possible in OpenOffice as well.

For autoincrement.

1. Select the cell series

2. Choose Edit -> Fill -> Series
