Copy dates using the + in the corner of a box to a series of boxes to the right so that the dates increase in value.

Asked by Walter Winters

In Excel when I want to move a date across a table I click on the + in the lower right corner and drag it as far to the right as far as I want to copy the date. The date increases the date in each new column. In Open Office it will only copy for one column even though I have merged and centered the first two columns. How can I accomplish this?

Hi Walter

I have no problem with creating a series of dates across the sheet, but this only hold true for simple cells.

If the first cell is, in fact, two merged cells, then it skips an increment. I.e if the merged cell has 'Jan' in it, then the next cell to the right will have 'Mar' in it. (I don't know what Excel does with merged cells as I don't have Excel - the whole reason I have OpenOffice.org on my Windows machine is I don't want pirate software.)
