error 508 is coming while applying subtotal formula

Error 508 is "Pair Missing", which means that either you forgot one of the brackets (or that there's an "extra" bracket in some place). This error appears sometimes if you enter a "formula" twice.

This problem was occurring only in the higher/new version of Ubantu and not in old one. We are using both the new and old version of ubantu. Whenever the subtotal formula applying in new version there is an error 508 is coming, but it will work by applying the formula in old version and uploaded the file in new version, and not possible to do it directly.

Hi! sorry for the delay, you could try with Go-OO it adds some features to OpenOffice (and some Calc solver patches). in oder to do this open a terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), and paste the following command:

sudo apt-get install openoffice.org

after installation is complete, restart OpenOffice (if you use the quicklauncher you might want to restart it too).
