Cannot reedit cells in database

I created in a new database a table.
now i can make the entries in the cells.

but after i tried to change the entry of a cell, openoffice do not change to the new entry. instead he change to the old entry i made in the first place.

the format of the cells are Memo [Longvarchar] length 0

I set the cells to the format text [varchar] length 1000, this solved the problem ...

i was not able to change the length of the memo-format, so i did this, but after that i had to retype everything in these cells.
