how does one select a block of text excluding columns of characters?

Asked by brinx

I want to select all the characters in a block of text from character position 10 through character position 70 in all lines on a page of text, ignoring or omitting all of the characters in character position 1 to 9 on each line on that page.

Thanks for your question.

According to my knowledge, Openoffice does not support blockwise selections.

Thank you Markus. It looks like a macro will have to be written to do what I want.

You might want to take a look at this:
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=1596
target is set to version 2.4 (somewhere in 2008 probably)

Can you help with this problem?
